Previously we already shown you the beauty of nature at Switzerland and Canada. No wonder why we do not miss to visit New Zealand (NZ) this time. We went to NZ in the late of November last year when it was the late of spring and starting the summer time. The weather was a bit cool, the snow melted, the river was very clear. In the North Island, there were New Zealand Christmas tree which flowering red flowers in full bloom. In the South Island, there were a lot of Lupin flowers starting to bloom. Let’s see which country we will vote to be the most admirable country you should not miss. Now let’s start your journey to…“New Zealand – the pure paradise of nature lovers”
ก่อนเดินทาง เที่ยวนิวซีแลนด์ จะต้องมีวีซ่าให้เรียบร้อยซะก่อน ซึ่งการขอวีซ่าท่องเที่ยวนิวซีแลนด์ สามารถทำได้ 2 แบบ คือ
1) แบบ Online สามารถเข้าไปกรอกฟอร์มได้ที่ immigration visa forms nz และลงทะเบียนในระบบ RealMe เพื่อยืนยันตัวตน จากนั้นต้องนำเล่มไปให้ทางศูนย์รับใบสมัครขอวีซ่า (TT Services) ทำการสแกนเล่ม
2) แบบกระดาษ เข้าไปที่ immigration visa forms nz เพื่อพิมพ์ใบสมัครออกมากรอก แล้วนำไปยื่นที่ศูนย์ฯ ทั้งนี้ การยื่นวีซ่าท่องเที่ยวนิวซีแลนด์สามารถทำแบบเดี่ยว หรือแบบกลุ่ม (ตั้งแต่ 2 คนขึ้นไป) ก็ได้ โดยการยื่นวีซ่าแบบกลุ่ม ยื่นเอกสารประกอบเพียงชุดเดียว สำหรับคนนำกลุ่มเท่านั้น และจะต้องกรอกฟอร์ม Group Visa Form (INZ1021) เพิ่มอีก 1 ใบ โดยระบุชื่อของคนนำกลุ่มไว้เป็นชื่อแรก วีซ่าแบบกลุ่มจะเป็นแบบแผ่นเดียว เวลาผ่าน ตม. ต้องเข้าพร้อมกันตลอด ข้อดีคือประหยัดค่าวีซ่าไปได้มากโข
Before traveling to NZ, we have to apply for NZ tourist visa that are 2 ways:
1) Apply online: we can complete the form at immigration visa forms nz and register in the RealMe system in order to verify our identities. After that, we have to bring our passports to be scanned at the Visa Application Center (TT Services).
2) Submit the paper form: we have to download the application form at immigration visa forms nz and print it out, fill in the form, and submit it with related documents at the Visa Application Center. The submission can be done either individually or in group (from 2 persons and more). Submitting a group visa, we can submit only one set of supporting documents (for group leader only) and have to fill in Group Visa Form (INZ1021) by specify the name of group leader in the first order. The group visa is a single sheet, so the whole group have to pass the immigration counter at the same time. The group visa helps us to save a lot of visa fees.

This time we travel with Thai Airways that fly directly from Bangkok to Auckland (North Island). On the traveling date, we don’t have to rush to go to the airport and find the parking because Thai Airways has partnered with BlackTie to provide a limousine service that will come to pick us up at home and drop off at Suvarnabhumi Airport, so we do not waste time searching for parking at the airport anymore. To reserve this service is very simple. Just book via blacktie-limousine thaiairways at least 72 hours in advance, informing the pick-up location and desired time. Then the driver will wait to pick us up at the meeting point on time.

Our flight number is TG 491 that departed from Thailand at 6:05 p.m. Its model is BOEING 787-9. The seating plan is 3-3-3. The seats are wide. There is private screen and remote control at every seat. Everyone can enjoy watching movie and playing various games. The amazing feature of this flight is “Live on Board” which allows us to watch real time programs, so we will not miss our favorite football match and can update worldwide news from the BBC and NHK.

There are 2 meals served during the flight. The choices of the first meal are chicken and fish. We can request for a special meal by requesting online before departing. The second meal is breakfast which are omelette and sausage. If you request for seafood meal, there are shrimp and fish. For the drinks, there are soft drinks, fruit juice, wine, tea, and coffee served throughout the flight.
ประมาณ 11 ชั่วโมง ผ่านไป ก็มาถึงสนามบิน Auckland (สนามบินหลักของเกาะเหนือ) ตอนประมาณเที่ยง (เวลาที่นี่เร็วกว่าเมืองไทย 6 ชั่วโมง) และเราต่อเครื่องบินภายในประเทศเพื่อไปยัง Christchurch (สนามบินหลักของเกาะใต้) โดยต้องเอากระเป๋า มา Declare ของที่เอาเข้าประเทศก่อน ที่นี่เค้าเข้มงวดของที่นำเข้ามาอย่างพวกอาหาร เนื้อสัตว์ ผัก ผลไม้ ยา รองเท้ากีฬา ฯลฯ เนื่องจากอาจนำเชื้อโรคเข้าสู่ประเทศได้ ทำให้มีการเช็คอย่างละเอียด เมื่อเราได้กระเป๋าปุ๊บ จะมีสุนัขตำรวจคอยดมกระเป๋า เพื่อสอดส่องหาของต้องสงสัย ดังนั้น จึงขอแนะนำว่าให้ Declare ของต้องสำแดงให้หมดทุกสิ่งที่เอาเข้ามา เพราะหากเจ้าหน้าที่มาเจอในภายหลัง อาจจะโดนปรับในจำนวนที่ค่อนข้างสูงเลยทีเดียว และเพื่อความสะดวกในการ Declare ของ เราขอแนะนำให้จัดกระเป๋าให้เป็นสัดส่วน โดยเอาของที่ต้อง Declare มาไว้ใบเดียวกัน เพื่อง่ายเวลาเปิดกระเป๋าให้เจ้าหน้าที่ตรวจสอบ ทั้งนี้ อาหารสด หมูแผ่น หมูหยอง ผักสด ผลไม้ต่างๆ ไม่สามารถนำเข้าประเทศได้นะครับ
After 11 hours on the flight, we arrived at the Auckland airport (North Island) at 12 p.m. (The time in NZ is 6 hours faster than in Thailand). Then, we catch the domestic flight to go to Christchurch (South Island). All of our stuff has to be declared. The immigration staffs are so strict about imported products such as food, meat, vegetables, fruits, drugs, sports shoes, etc. as they may bring germs. After we got the luggage, the police dog will come immediately to smell and detect the suspicious items. So, it is recommended that we should declare all things in our luggage. In case that we did not declare and the officers find out later, they will fine us in a relatively high amount. For our convenience, it is recommended to arrange the bag by grouping the items that need to be declare in the same area. So it is easy to open only 1 bag for inspection. The fresh food, shredded pork, fresh vegetables, and fruits cannot be imported into NZ.
เมื่อ Declare เรียบร้อยแล้ว เดินมาฝั่ง Domestic Terminal เพื่อต่อเครื่องภายในประเทศ โดยไฟลท์นี้ใช้เวลาประมาณ 1.30 ชั่วโมงก็มาถึงสนามบิน Christchurh นักท่องเที่ยวที่มา เที่ยวนิวซีแลนด์ ส่วนใหญ่จะเช่ารถขับกัน เพราะถนนที่นี่ขับไม่ยาก รถน้อย แถมพวงมาลัยด้านเดียวกับเมืองไทยอีกด้วย ครั้งนี้เราเช่ารถของบริษัท ACE ซึ่งไม่มีเคาน์เตอร์ในสนามบิน แต่สามารถโทรเรียกได้โดยใช้โทรศัพท์ฟรีที่สนามบิน และมีเจ้าหน้าที่ของ ACE ก็ขับรถตู้มารับไปยัง Office ซึ่งอยู่ห่างออกไปประมาณ 5 นาที
After the inspection process had been completed, we went to Domestic Terminal to connect the domestic flight. This flight takes about 1.5 hours to arrive at Christchurh Airport. Most tourists in NZ usually rent a car because it is not difficult to drive, there are not too many cars, we can drive on the same side as in Thailand. We rented a car of ACE company which does not have a counter in the airport but we can call them by using a free phone at the airport. After that, ACE staff took the van from their office to pick us that took about 5 minutes.
ใครต่อใครที่มาที่นี่ส่วนใหญ่จะเช่ารถบ้านขับ แต่ทริปนี้ เราเช่ารถยนต์ขนาดเล็ก เป็นรถ Nissan Tida ค่าเช่า 9 วันอยู่ที่ประมาณ 240 NZD (1 NZD ประมาณ 22.50 บาท) ค่าน้ำมันที่นี่ 1 ลิตร (ประเภท 91) ราคาลิตรละ 2.1 NZD (น้ำมันเติมเต็มถังอยู่ที่ประมาณ 70 NZD) เหตุที่เช่ารถเล็กเพราะ เราไปกัน 2 คน และค่าที่พักที่นิวซีแลนด์เองไม่ได้แพงมากเลยไม่ได้เช่ารถบ้านขับครับ ^^
Most of the tourists who come to NZ usually rent a house car. But this trip, we rent a small car as Nissan Tida. The rent for 9 days is around 240 NZD (1 NZD equals to 22.50 baht). The price of fuel here is 2.1 NZ per 1 liter (type 91). The total price per 1 tank is approximately 70 NZD.
Christchurch
เมืองที่ใหญ่ที่สุดของเกาะใต้ และเป็นเมืองที่มีประชากรมากเป็นอันดับ 3 ของประเทศ อยู่ทางชายฝั่งตะวันออกของเกาะใต้ แต่เดิมเป็นที่อยู่ของชาวมาวรี จึงไม่น่าแปลกใจเลยที่ว่าทำไมชื่อทะเลสาบหรือสถานที่ต่างๆ จึงไม่เหมือนภาษาอังกฤษเท่าไหร่นัก เพราะเขาใช้ชื่อตามภาษามาวรีนั่นเอง เมือง Christchurch นี้ประสบปัญหาแผ่นดินไหวอยู่บ่อยครั้ง เนื่องจากตั้งอยู่บริเวณรอยแยกแผ่นเปลือกโลกขนาดใหญ่ จนชาวเมืองบางส่วนแยกไปตั้งถิ่นฐานกันที่เมืองอื่น ทำให้อันดับร่วงจากเมืองที่มีประชากรมากเป็นอันดับ 2 ของประเทศ ตกลงมาเป็นอันดับที่ 3 ของประเทศ
Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island and being the third of the most popular city in NZ. It located on the east coast of the South Island. Originally it was the address of Mawari people. That is the reason why the names of many lakes/places do not like English because people named them in Mawari language.
ที่เมืองนี้เรามีเวลาเที่ยวไม่เยอะ เลยมีภาพแค่บางจุดสำคัญๆ เช่น โบสถ์ รถราง และย่าน New Regent Street จะเห็นว่าที่นี่ค่อนข้างเงียบพอสมควร และในตัวเมืองยังมีการซ่อมแซมอาคารหลังจากโดนแผ่นดินไหวครั้งใหญ่ไปไม่นานนี้ด้วยครับ
We don’t have so much time here, thus we have pictures of only some important aspects i.e. churches, trams and New Regent Street. This city is quiet and there are many renovations of the buildings that effected by the earthquake recently.
Tekapo
เมืองเล็กๆที่มีทะเลสาบ และ Mount Cook เป็นฉากหลัง นักท่องเที่ยวทุกคนที่มาเกาะใต้ย่อมไม่พลาดที่จะมาเยือนทะเลสาบชื่อดังของที่นี่ Lake Tekapo (ทะเลสาบเทคาโป) เป็นทะเลสาบขนาดใหญ่ที่มีน้ำสีฟ้าสดใส มีต้นกำเนิดมาจากธารน้ำแข็งเทือกเขาเซาท์เทิร์นแอลป์ พื้นที่ใต้สุดของทะเลสาบเป็นที่ตั้งของเมืองตากอากาศเล็กๆ ชื่อเดียวกับทะเลสาบ ซึ่งมีประชากรเพียง 400 คนเท่านั้น แต่คึกคักไปด้วยนักท่องเที่ยวที่มาชมความงามของทะเลสาบแห่งนี้กันตลอดทั้งปี
Tekapo is a small town where there are lake and Mount Cook as a background. All tourists who come to the South Island might not miss to visit the famous Lake Tekapo – a large lake with clear blue water. The southernmost area of the lake is the town which has the same name as the lake. The number of population here is only 400 people, but bustling with tourists who come to see the beauty of this lake all year round.
บริเวณริมทะเลสาบมี ดอกลูปิน (Lupin) ทั้งสีม่วงและสีชมพูสดใส ชูช่อรอนักท่องเที่ยวมาถ่ายรูปกันอยู่เต็มไปหมด ดอก Lupin นี้จะบานในช่วงเดือนพฤศจิกายน – ธันวาคม ของทุกปี ใครที่มาเกาะใต้ช่วงฤดูนี้คงได้เห็นดอก Lupin บานตลอดทาง
A lot of Lupin flowers (both purple and pink) bloom along the lakeside areas. Lupin flower will bloom during November – December every year. Anyone who comes to the South Island during this season will see Lupine flowers bloom all the way.
Church of the good Shepherd โบสถ์หินเล็กๆ ริมทะเลสาบ ห่างจากตัวเมือง 400-500 เมตร เป็นจุดถ่ายรูปที่นักท่องเที่ยวมักไม่พลาด โบสถ์แห่งนี้สร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี 1935 ตามคอนเซ็ปต์เรียบง่ายแต่แข็งแกร่ง เพื่อเป็นอนุสรณ์แด่นักบุกเบิกรุ่นแรกๆ ที่ต้องผจญกับความยากลำบากในพื้นที่นี้ หินที่ใช้ในการสร้างโบสถ์ถูกนำมาจากพื้นที่โดยรอบในรัศมี 8 กม. โดยไม่มีการตัดแต่งใดๆ ทั้งสิ้น ภายในโบสถ์จุคนได้ประมาณ 20-30 คนเท่านั้น เป็นจุดที่คนมักมาถ่ายดาวกันในตอนกลางคืน เพราะในตอนค่ำท้องฟ้าบริเวณนี้จะไร้ก้อนเมฆ อีกทั้งพื้นที่แถวนี้ได้รับการประกาศให้เป็น Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve เมื่อปี 2012 ซึ่งนับเป็นพื้นที่แห่งเดียวในซีกโลกใต้ และเป็น 1 ใน 8 แห่งทั่วโลก ที่ในยามค่ำคืนจะลดปริมาณการใช้แสงไฟ จนท้องฟ้ามืดสนิท ประกอบกับท้องฟ้าบริเวณนี้แจ่มใสเกือบตลอดทั้งปี จึงเป็นที่ดูดาวชั้นดี และในบางครั้งอาจเห็นทางช้างเผือกได้ด้วย
Church of the good Shepherd is a small stone church located near the lake. It is about 400-500 meters from the city. Here is famous photo spot that tourists should not miss. This church was built in 1935 in a simple but strong concept in order to commemorate the first generation of pioneers of this area. The stone used to build the church was taken from the surrounding area in a radius of 8 km. The capacity of this church is 20-30 people. It is the place where people often come to take picture of the stars at night because there is no cloud at dusk. In addition, this area has been declared as Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve since 2012. Here is the only area in the southern hemisphere and be one of eight places around the world that the amount of light used will reduce at night. The sky is completely dark, therefore is a good location to see the stars and might be able to see the Milky Way sometime.
ขับรถมาสักพักก็มาถึงอีกทะเลสาบที่สวยไม่แพ้กัน นั่นก็คือ Lake Pukaki (ทะเลสาบพูคากิ) อยู่ภายในแอ่ง Mackenzie ซึ่งเป็นที่ราบใหญ่ล้อมรอบด้วยเทือกเขาและภูเขาย่อมๆ อยู่สูงกว่าระดับน้ำทะเลกว่า 700 เมตร
After driving for a while, we found another beautiful lake named Lake Pukaki. It located in the Mackenzie basin which is a large plain surrounded by mountains. It is over 700 meters above sea level.
บริเวณ จุดชมวิว Lake Pukaki ด้านใต้สุด มีร้านจำหน่ายปลาแซลมอนคุณภาพเยี่ยมจาก King Salmon ชื่อร้าน Mount Cook Alpine Salmon โดยจำหน่ายปลาแซลมอนที่เลี้ยงในฟาร์มที่อยู่ในลำน้ำซึ่งไหลมาจากเทือกเขาเซาเทิร์นแอล์ปส ที่อยู่ไกลจากเมืองและผู้คน ทำให้ปลาแซลมอนที่เลี้ยงได้รับน้ำและอาหารตามธรรมชาติ เราสามารถเลือกได้ว่าจะซื้อกลับหรือนั่งรับทานริมทะเลสาบ ซึ่งวิวดีมากๆ เรียกได้ว่าอิ่มท้องด้วยปลาสดๆ พร้อมทั้งอิ่มใจกับวิวสวยๆ ไปพร้อมกันเลย (ราคาแซลมอน 100 g. ราคา 10 NZD, 500 g. ราคา 35 NZD)
At the southernmost point of the Lake Pukaki Viewpoint, there is a shop selling high quality salmon shop from King Salmon named Mount Cook Alpine Salmon. Its product is the salmon fed in the farm. Their salmons live in natural water that come from Southern Alps where is far from the city. We can choose either eating in or take away. The view from this point is awesome, so we can enjoy fresh salmon and good view at the same time. (The price of salmon is 10 NZD per 100 g. and 35 NZD per 500 g.)
บริเวณ Visitor Centre ใกล้ๆ ร้านแห่งนี้ จะมีรูปปั้น Tahr หรือ Himalayan Tahr ซึ่งเป็นสัตว์สายพันธุ์เดียวกันกับแพะป่า ที่ทางการนิวซีแลนด์ได้รับมาจากประเทศสหราชอาณาจักรครั้งแรกในปี 1904
In front of the Visitor Centre located nearby the shop, you can see a statue of Tahr or Himalayan Tahr. It is the same specie as wild goat. New Zealand authorities received it from the United Kingdom first time in 1904.
ก่อนที่จะไปสัมผัสกับ Mount Cook กันแบบใกล้ชิด เราขอแวะเติมพลังกันที่ร้าน The Old Mountaineers’ Café & Bar ซึ่งเป็นร้านอาหารที่เราสามารถเพลิดเพลินกับอาหารและเครื่องดื่ม พร้อมดื่มด่ำกับวิวของ Mount Cook ไปพร้อมๆ กันได้ เมนูที่เราสั่งคือ Hawaiian Pizza และ Moccachino
Before going to see Mount Cook closely, we stopped at The Old Mountaineers ’Café & Bar, which is a restaurant where we can enjoy food, drinks and the view of Mount Cook at the same time. The menus we ordered are Hawaiian Pizza and Moccachino.
Hooker Valley Track เป็นหนึ่งในกิจกรรมยอดฮิตของผู้ที่มาเยือน Mount Cook เพื่อชม 1 ในธารน้ำแข็งที่เข้าถึงได้ง่ายที่สุดของนิวซีแลนด์ ซึ่งมีความยาว 11 กิโลเมตร โดยเราสามารถเดินเท้าประมาณ 5 กิโลเมตร ไปตามทางเดินไต่ระดับความสูงราว 100 เมตร ซึ่งใช้เวลาเดินไป-กลับประมาณ 3 ชั่วโมง
Hooker Valley Track is one of the most popular activities that people visiting Mount Cook should not miss. You will see the most easily accessible glaciers of New Zealand which is 11 kilometers long. We walked 5 kilometers along the walkway that gradually slope. It takes about 3 hours.
ระหว่างทางจะผ่านวิวทิวทัศน์อันสวยงามของท้องทุ่งระหว่างทะเลสาบ Mueller และ Hooker จนเข้าสู่หุบเขา Hooker ตรงปลายทะเลสาบ ซึ่งนับเป็นจุดชมวิวของ Mount Cook ที่ดีที่สุดอีกจุดหนึ่ง
Along the way, we passed through the beautiful scenery of the fields between Mueller and Hooker lakes. Our route ends at the Hooker Valley at the end of the lake where is the best point to view Mount Cook.

วันต่อมา เราขอพักร่างหลังจาก Trekking เมื่อวาน โดยการมาแช่น้ำร้อนที่ Hot Tubs Omarama ขับรถจาก Tekapo ไปประมาณ 1 ชั่วโมง ที่นี่จะเปิดให้บริการบ่อแช่น้ำร้อนและเย็นแบบส่วนตัว หน้าตาคล้ายๆ ถังน้ำขนาดใหญ่ แบบ Open Air แต่ได้ความเป็นส่วนตัว ในระยะเวลาชั่วโมงครึ่ง ราคาคนละ 56 NZD แต่หากแช่พร้อมกัน 2, 3, 4+ คน จะเหลือคนละ 49 NZD, 41 NZD และ 37 NZD ตามลำดับ นอกจากนี้ที่นี่ยังมีบริการนวด และซาวน่าด้วย อากาศหนาวๆ มาแช่น้ำอุ่นให้ร่างกายผ่อนคลาย พร้อมชมวิวสวยๆ ของทุ่งหญ้า ที่ราบ ภูเขา และท้องฟ้า ราวกับอยู่บนสวรรค์เลยทีเดียว
Next day we decided to rest (after trekking on the day before) by taking a bath at Hot Tubs Omarama. It is about 1 hour from Tekapo. We can enjoy private hot and cold water in a big bath tub for one and a half hours. The price is 56 NZD per person. If you come in a group of 2, 3, or 4 more; the price per person will be 49 NZD, 41 NZD, and 37 NZD respectively. Moreover, there are also a massage and sauna services here. ที่ Omarama นี้ยังเป็นแหล่งตกปลาแซลมอนและปลาเทราต์ชั้นดี โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งบริเวณริมแม่น้ำ Ahuriri ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่ว่ากันว่าสามารถถ่ายภาพทุ่งดอก Lupin ได้สวยงามที่สุดแห่งหนึ่ง เพราะมีต้น Lupin เยอะมาก มีทั้งสีม่วง สีชมพู และสีเหลืองให้ถ่ายรูปกันได้อย่างเพลิดเพลิน
Omarama is also a good source of salmon and trout fishing, especially along Ahuriri river where is the best location to take pictures of Lupin. There are a lot of Lupin here including purple, pink, and yellow Lupins.

Now it’s time for the delicious food at High Country Salmon where is the salmon Farm that we drove through. There are both fresh salmon and smoked salmon sold here. We can enjoy fresh salmon near the fish cage. Our menu is Salmon Poke Bowl, Salmon Burger, and Salmon Sashimi that priced 20 NZD per 250 g. Outside we can enjoy feeding salmon by ourselves. There is free grain food. This salmon farm is raised in a small lake connected to Lake Pukaki and Lake Ohau. The water used here coming from the glacier.
Wanaka
ขับรถจาก Omarama มาประมาณ 1.5 ชั่วโมง จะพบกับเมืองเล็กๆสุดชิวอย่าง Wanaka โดยมี Lake Wanaka เป็นทะเลสาบที่ใหญ่เป็นอันดับ 4 ของประเทศ ยาวประมาณ 45 กิโลเมตร ตั้งอยู่ท่ามกลางเทือกเขาสูง 2 ข้าง ด้านตะวันตกเป็นภูเขาสูง 2,000 เมตร ในเขตอุทยานแห่งชาติภูเขา Aspiring ด้านตะวันออกเป็นภูเขาเล็กลงมาหน่อยที่คั่นกลางระว่าง Lake Wanaka กับ Lake Hawea ห่างกันประมาณ 7-8 กิโลเมตร แต่มีส่วนเล็กๆ ของ Lake Hawea ที่ยื่นมาจนเกือบจะเชื่อมต่อกับ Lake Wanaka ห่างกันประมาณ 1.5 กิโลเมตร ซึ่งเป็นที่รู้จักในชื่อ The Neck ถนนเลียบ Lake Wanaka ผ่าน The Neck แล้วข้ามไปเลียบ Lake Hawea จนถึงตัวเมือง Wanaka นี้ มีทัศนียภาพที่สวยงามตลอดทาง มีจุดแวะพักชมวิวเป็นระยะๆ เส้นทางสายนี้มีความคดเคี้ยวเล็กน้อย จึงต้องระมัดระวังในการขับรถ
Drove from Omarama for about 1.5 hours, we found the small town named Wanaka. There is Lake Wanaka that is the fourth largest lake in the country. Its length is about 45 kilometers and surrounded by 2 high mountains. It is 2,000 meters mountain in the National Park on the west side. On the east side, there is a small mountain that separates Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea. There is a small part of Lake Hawea that is almost connects to Lake Wanaka, about 1.5 kilometers apart, known as The Neck. The road along Lake Wanaka passes through The Neck and crosses along Lake Hawea to Wanaka is so beautiful. There are a lot of stopover viewpoints. This route has a slight winding, so we had to drive carefully.

Another well-known thing is “That Wanaka Tree” which is a stand-alone tree in Lake Wanaka. This tree is a willow tree that is one kind of pine. It was believed that it had been part of a tree fence since 1939 and it is the only one that can survive until now. It is the most popular tree that a lot of tourists come to take pictures. Here is also the land of yellow Lupin. Its fragrance is seductive and attract people to visit.

Trekking lovers should not miss Diamond Lake Conservation Area where you can see Wanaka in a high angle. It is not far and difficult to walk there. After walking for about 10 minutes, we can see Diamond Lake from the top.
และเมื่อเดินต่ออีกประมาณ 30 นาที ก็จะถึง Lake Wanaka Viewpoint สวยงามคุ้มค่ามาก เส้นทางนี้เดินไม่ยาก เป็นทางที่ไม่ชันเท่าไหร่ แถมบางช่วงมีการทำบันไดไว้ให้อย่างดี จะฟินแค่ไหน ดูจากหน้าได้คร้าบ ^^
After continuously walking for about 30 minutes, we reached Lake Wanaka Viewpoint. The view from here is very beautiful and worth to come. This path is not difficult and not steep. There are steps in some areas. You can notice from my face how much we enjoy here ^^
Fox & Franz Josef Glacier
อยู่ในภูมิภาค West Coast เราจะขึ้นไปสัมผัสธารน้ำแข็งแห่งนี้กันแบบใกล้ชิด ขับรถจาก Wanaka ประมาณ 3.5 ชั่วโมง เราจองรอบของเฮลิคอปเตอร์ไว้ช่วงเช้า เฮลิคอปเตอร์ลำที่เราขึ้นสามารถจุคนได้สูงสุดถึง 7 คน (รวมคนขับ)
We plan to experience walking on the glacier at Fox & Franz Josef Glacier which located in the West Coast. We drove about 3.5 hours from Wanaka. We booked a helicopter tour in the morning. The helicopter can hold up to 7 people (including driver).

During the tour, captain took us to fly through the Fox Glacier which is 13 kilometers long. Originally in the last ice age, this glacier end with the coastline but began to shrink gradually from time to time. We also saw Tasman Glacier which is the longest glacier in New Zealand. Previously it was 28 kilometers but now Its length is only 23.5 kilometers. Then we passed Mount Cook that is the highest mountain in New Zealand.

Now we come to the highlight of this flight. The captain is landing on the Franz Josef Glacier that is 12-kilometers long. We can experience walking on the glacier and taking nice pictures here. It takes about 30 minutes for round trip on the helicopter.

If you do not want to take the helicopter, you can visit the glacier closely by driving to the Franz Josef Glacier Walk. There is a glacier walking trail. You can choose from 3 different routes. It is not difficult and not steep, but very shady.

Afterwards, we are heading to Knights Point Lookout where we can see the beauty of Te Wahipounamu an area that has been certified as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO organization in 1990. The sky and the mountains here are beautiful like in a painting.

Another scenic spot on the way back to Wanaka is Lake Hawea Lookout where is a spot that we can see Lake Hawea clearly. Lake Hawea is a 35-kilometer lake stretching parallel to Lake Wanaka. Both lakes come from the erosion of the glaciers that were paralleled in the ancient era more than ten thousand years ago. At present, it has become a resort for water activities.
Milford Sound

On the 9th day of our journey, we traveled to the Southland region in the early morning to take boat trip to see Milford Sound. Milford Sound is a fjord with stunning views and being one of the purest nature place in NZ. It is another highlight that people who visit NZ should not miss. Although it far from the city (4-5 hours away from Queenstown), there are still plenty of tourists here (around 400,000-1,000,000 people per year). The green forests lined up on the high mountains around the fjord make us see a steep cliff of more than 1,000 meters throughout the two sides. There are 2 big waterfalls that are Lady Bowen Falls and Stirling Falls and more than hundreds small falls.

On the way, we can see a group of penguin swim along the rocks. Penguins here is a relatively small species. In addition, we will see Miter Peak, Sterling Falls, and Milford Sound Underwater Learning Center. We take a boat of Southern Discoveries. They claim that their boat is the one that go nearest to the waterfall.

Then we go to Mirror Lakes which is a small lake. Its length is about 200 meters. The surface of the lake is dark and completely still, so we can see the reflect of the grasslands and Earl Mountains clearly. The chic thing here is the sign of the lake that confirms us the origin of its name. This lake is a small stopover located midway between Te Anau and Milford Sound.

On the way, we stop to take a photo at The Eglinton Valley. It is a vast meadow with having a mountain as a backdrop. It reminds us the scene in the movies that heroine walks in the grasslands. We see a lot of people come to take a picture on this grass field.
อีกหนึ่งจุดที่ต้องแวะเก็บภาพประทับใจสักเล็กน้อย นั่นก็คือ Devil’s Staircase Lookout ณ จุดนี้เราจะเห็นทางโค้งที่ลัดเลาะทะเลสาบ ซึ่งจะเป็นโค้งหลายๆ โค้งติดกัน เวลามองจากระยะไกล จะเห็นเหมือนขั้นบันได ตามชื่อ เป็นจุดที่เราสามารถถ่ายรูปถนนที่คดเคี้ยวพร้อมด้วยเทือกเขา The Remarkables อันโด่งดังเป็นฉากหลัง
Another point that we should visit to capture the impressive pictures is Devil’s Staircase Lookout. At this point, we can see many arches close to the lakes that look alike the step. We can take pictures of winding streets together with the famous The Remarkables mountain as a backdrop.
Queenstown
มุ่งหน้าสู่ Queenstown ระหว่างทางมีจุดชมวิวสวยๆ มากมาย ให้เราได้จอดรถถ่ายรูปกันตลอดทาง
Now we are heading to Queenstown. On the way, there are many beautiful viewpoints that we can park to take pictures.
จุดชมวิว Lindis Pass Viewpoint จากที่จอดรถเดินไปเพียง 200 เมตร จะได้เห็นวิวสวยๆ ของแนวเขาที่เรียงรายกันราวกับภาพวาด พร้อมกับถนนที่คดเคี้ยว ราวกับกำลังโอบล้อมทิวเขาเหล่านี้ไว้
Lindis Pass Viewpoint is only 200 meters from our parking lot. At this point, we can see the beautiful view of the hills lined like a painting and winding road surrounded like it is holding the mountains.

Queenstown is a tourism hub of South Island of NZ. There are many activities we can enjoy here including boat trip along the lake, basket riding to see the city, skiing, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, Bungy Jump, etc. These are the reasons why there are a lot of tourists coming to this city.
และยังมี Lake Wakatipu เป็นทะเลสาบรูปตัว N กลับด้าน มีภูเขาล้อมรอบทุกด้าน เกิดจากการกัดเซาะของธารน้ำแข็งมีความยาวรวม 80 กิโลเมตร นับได้ว่าเป็นทะเลสาบที่ยาวที่สุดและใหญ่เป็นอันดับ 3 ของนิวซีแลนด์
In addition, there is Lake Wakatipu that is a reverse N-shaped lake. This lake is surrounded by the mountains. It was caused by the erosion of glaciers with a total length of 80 kilometers. So, it is considered the longest and third largest lake in NZ.

After packing our luggage, we have been walking in the city in order to try the famous burger restaurant named Fergburger that has only one branch in the world. It has been open since 2001 and being well known to tourists around the world. By starting from a small hamburger shop in the alleyway next to the house. Then it became a big street shop which is open from 8.30 a.m. until 5 am the next day. Let’s think about how well they sold that make them are able to open up to 20.5 hours per day. The menu is available in a wide variety including lamb, cod, deer and vegetarian. I tried a rare menu like Little Lamby (lamb) and Sweet Bambi (deer meat). The hamburgers are very large. Queenstown still has many activities to do. We tried to find exciting activity in this adventure city of NZ. We rode the zip line at Kawarau Zipride. Here you do not need to worry about safety. The staff will help us to wear safety equipment and harnesses very well. Before riding, we had to choose what kind of motion we want to be. Either being like Superman, sitting, turning back, or hanging head like Batman etc. This zip line moves along the sling line at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour. The total distance is 130 meters. On the way, we will see the beautiful river and valley of Kawarau. (We are not allowed to wear glasses. If you want to use GoPro, you have to stick it on your wrist only.)

If you are challenge lover, we recommend trying Bungy Jump at Kawarau Bridge because this place is the first place in the world that normal people had a chance to experience this horrific activity in 1988. The height is 43 meters. You will be tied at an ankle only. You can choose whether giving your head touch the surface of water or not. It is the only place in Queenstown that allow people to jump in a pair.

Today the weather is very good, so we decided to change the mode to try soft activities. We started to ride Gondola up to the amusement park and go to Skyline viewpoint which located near the top of Bob’s Peak. It is a scenic spot that allows us to see the full Queenstown city. There are many activities to do here including Skyline Luge, Bungy Jump, Mountain bike and Paragliding.

The must-try activity here is Skyline Luge. It is a small stunt car that doesn’t use engines and fuel. There is only one stick we use to control the direction and being the brake. The movement of the car is based on the slope of the hill. The path that is a bit winding up to be a little thrilling. Only one person per one car. (Small baby can go together with adult.) This car is not difficult to control. You can learn in only 2-3 minutes. For those who play as the first round, they must start at the Basic route first. But if anyone plays around 2,3,4, …; they will be able to play at path that is more difficult. It takes about 3-4 minutes per round. No need to worry about the safety because it already passed the safety and all of the players must wear helmets while riding.

The beautiful view in daytime made us wonder how beautiful it is at night. We therefore go back to rest at the accommodation and come back to ride the Gondola again in the evening in order to enjoy the sunset moment with amazing city view here.

อีกหนึ่งเมืองเล็กๆ ที่ไม่ควรพลาด ตั้งอยู่ทางเหนือของทะเลสาบวาคาทิพู ห่างจาก Queenstown ประมาณ 50 กม. เป็นจุดที่แม่น้ำ Dart River และ Rees River ไหลเข้าสู่ทะเลสาบวาคาทิพู ทำให้ได้วิวธรรมชาติที่สวยงาม อีกทั้งยังมีภูเขารอบล้อม ที่นี่ได้ถูกใช้เป็นสถานที่ถ่ายทำภาพยนตร์มากมาย อาทิ Lord of The Ring: The Fellowship of The Ring, Vertical Limit, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian และ X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Another small town that we cannot miss is Glenorchy. It is in the north of Wakatipu Lake. It is about 50 km from Queenstown. This city is the point where Dart River and Rees River flow into Wakatipu Lake. The natural view here is very beautiful and surrounded by the mountains. Accommodations in New Zealand
This trip we stayed at 3 types of accommodation. Type 1: Motel at Geraldine Top 10 Holiday Park (There are 47 accommodations throughout the country, distributed in various cities) There are many room types to choose from including Motels, Units, Cabins or Sites. We choose Motel which can accommodate a maximum of 3 people. It is a private house with an en-suite bathroom. There is private parking. There is living table in the front of each room. In the room, there are kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. The kitchen has a sink, refrigerator, microwave, cooking equipment, kettle, coffee/tea maker, glasses, spoons, knives, and bowls. In the bedroom, there are TV, sofa, heater, and a large bed. If you want to cook, you can borrow kitchen equipment at the reception and cook in the central kitchen.

Type 2: The house owned by Thais named Willow On The Green Wanaka House. Its address is 52, Willowridge road. This accommodation has many clean rooms and located in the great location that we can see the beautiful view of Lake Wanaka, Mount Iron and downtown Wanaka. The facilities here is fully. The owner of the house is also very cute. If you stay here, we guaranteed that you will be impressed like both of us. The condition for staying here is that you have to book at least 3 nights continuously. We recommend you to book this accommodation in advance via Willow On The Green Wanaka because it is full so fast.

Type 3: Oaks Shores Hotel that is a serviced apartment of Minor group. The rooms here are divided into 4 zones (4 blocks). There are over 150 rooms located on 10 floors. The rooms are separated into lower zones and upper zones (separate elevators).

The room we stayed is a deluxe room with 2 bedrooms and a lake view. The rooms are very large. There are living rooms. dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. It can accommodate up to 6 people. Facilities are equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, tea / coffee maker, dishwasher, bowl, cutlery, pans, and kitchen utensils. There are also washing machines, dryers, irons, safes as well.
สำหรับห้องนอนเล็ก จะมีเตียง Twin 2 เตียง พร้อมห้องน้ำในตัว ส่วนห้องนอนใหญ่ อยู่ริมทะเลสาบ มีเตียงนอน Queen Size พร้อม Electric Blanket ให้นอนอุ่นสบาย ภายในห้องน้ำมีอ่างอาบน้ำ และฝักบัว
In a small bedroom, there are 2 twin beds with an en-suite bathroom. The master bedroom is located on the lake side furnished with a queen size bed together with electric blanket that made us sleep comfortably. The bathroom has both bathtub and shower.

The atmosphere here is very natural. As our room is on the ground floor, we can sit in front of the house and enjoy with birds and ducks come to greeting us all the time. In addition, the hotel also offers Sauna, Gym, Bar and Shuttle Bus to pick up and drop off to Queenstown CBD, which is issued every hour.

Breakfast here is International Buffet that served from 6 to 10 a.m. There are variety of food including sausages, bacon, boiled eggs, hash brown, steamed rice, noodles, fried spring rolls, omelet, breads, muffins, yoghurt, fruit, cornflake, juice, milk, tea, and coffee. Even the taste is normal, but the view of this restaurant is very awesome. We can enjoy our coffee with the view of Lake Wakatipu.

Our summary and highlights of New Zealand are as following:
1) It is unbelievable that the sheep population here is more than the human population. We can find the sheep along the way we drive while we can find people mainly at the tourist attractions and in the cities.
2) The weather in NZ changes all the time. So, we should check the weather forecast real time before going anywhere.
3) When we drive along the roads, birds seem to know their job and will fly into the front of the car. And also the rabbits that often jump on the road. So, should be careful especially when driving out of town.
4) Do not believe expected arrival time on Google map because there are a lot of road repair in NZ and the view of the sides is very beautiful that make you unable to resist to park and take pictures. Thus, you should spare more time in order not to miss taking beautiful pictures.

5) Most of the accommodations here have kitchen and washing machine. So, no need to carry a lot of clothes and instant noodles. Cooking here is a must-try activity in NZ because it is both fun and (maybe) delicious.
6) Sunblock is necessary because the sun here is very strong. Even we feel cold, our skin might get burn unaware.
7) Activity lovers should visit Queenstown because there are a lot of activities you can enjoy all day.
8) Glenorchy is a must-see city where you can enjoy natural scenery and good location to get the pictures of sheep with a nice background.
